Festive season tip #3 Eat real food

This is a time of indulgence and enjoyment for many of us lucky folk. Delicious treats, celebratory drinks … it’s the time of year to revel in such things.

Enjoy, I say. The season offers up so many delicious dishes for just that purpose!

Only, be sure to eat as well as you can. You’ll enjoy it more and feel better for it.

Eat real food

What I mean by this is: don’t get caught up in pre-packaged, highly-sugared, super-junky ‘holiday food’.

Somehow, processed meals and faux-food ingredients have come to play a big role in many of our Christmas dishes.

There’s no need!

It is such a waste of the wonderful resources available in our kitchens, gardens, markets and food stalls. You can still eat delicious, decadent, indulgent things. Just do so using real food. In short:

  • Make what you can
  • Use fresh fruit and veg (there is SO much in season)
  • Eat a variety of dishes
  • Eat for your palate
  • Enjoy whole foods

Such as this!

And this!

Even this!

And a spot of this!
